I was recently very kindly invited to the very first JoJo Maman Bebe maternity event. These events took place in selected stores and offered an appointment with a store advisor to walk through the maternity range, bra fitting, a 15% discount on the maternity / nursing range and a goody bag.
I was looked after by the lovely Nyree at the Nottingham City Centre Store. She started by giving me some background on the brand, I had no idea they were an entirely British brand launched from a small shared office in London over 20 years ago. Jojo also support the Nema Foundation, an independent charity operating in Northern Mozambique to help relieve child poverty and protect the environment. As I’ve gotten older it’s become more important to me to feel good about the retailers I’m supporting so it was good to hear that the company is focussed on people and not just profit.
With an ever expanding bump I was keen to see what JoJo had to offer in terms of comfortable clothing that I could feel confident in without seeing a tent in the mirror. I hadn’t shopped at the store for maternity wear before so it was all new to me. Nyree talked me through the sections, I was really surprised by the size of the range. Too often maternity wear is an afterthought of a single rail pushed in the back corner of a store with little in terms of choice or style. I knew that this wouldn’t be the case with a retailer dealing specifically with baby related items but I was still genuinely surprised at how much variety there was. The range covers everything from underwear, nightwear and swimwear through to tops, jeans, dresses and workwear. Although at first look some of the pieces might appear to be a little pricier than some other high street stores it really shows in the quality. With the majority of tops and dresses designed so that they can be used during pregnancy right through nursing as well the value is great.
I decided to treat myself rather than the baby on this occasion, not least because my maternity jeans no longer fit and I’m quickly running out of things to wear. I went for this super comfortable maternity / nursing dress and classic black top. I love a dress with sleeves and even better, pockets, perfect! I’ve pretty much lived in the dress since, it’s so easy to dress up or down as is the top. I know that I will get lots of wear out of them after baby is here too.
I couldn’t leave without having a good look around all of the lovely baby clothes and toys, it’s still quite the novelty looking at dresses this time around! There were so many things that caught my eye and I am head over heels for this elephant print.
The store is more than just a shopping destination, it also has a spacious bathroom and change facility along with comfortable nursing areas. Alongside this is a toddler table equipped with drawing bits and bobs to keep the little ones entertained. Everything is on hand to make for a stress free trip.
I’d highly recommend JoJo to any parents / parents to be, particularly for the maternity range. Many thanks to the lovely Liz and Nyree for inviting me to this event and for taking such good care of me.
